In the case of road transport, the upper limit of the carrier’s liability by the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR) is 8.33 SDR per one brut kg of the goods. SDR is the currency unit of the International Monetary Fund (http://www.imf.org/external/np/fin/data/rms_five.aspx)
and its exchange rate is usually stated together with the other currency exchange rates daily.
Example: Currently (March 2015), in the case of a cargo of 500 brut kg, the CMR insurance would cover damages of up to EUR 8860. If necessary, additional cover may be ordered.
