When you transport goods outside the European Union, you must submit an export declaration. When you transport goods into the European Union, you must prepare an import declaration. Declarations are prepared by a customs declarant. Based on this export declaration, the cargo moves to the border of Norway and then continues under an import declaration.

The information needed for an export declaration is as follows:

  • sales invoice
  • exact description of the goods to determine the code
  • type and number of packages
  • weight of goods
  • route (border point)

Import declarations are normally prepared by the recipient.
